I believe that a retreat can be so much more than ‘just’ an opportunity to relax and unwind. A retreat is also the perfect time to reconnect with yourself, nourish your body, mind and soul and initiate transformation. The society we live in is a very masculine and rational place, and we mostly live from the head. We have lost the deep connection with our bodies. But our bodies hold our emotions, our deepest desires for life and the answer to who we really are. It’s very easy to become disconnected from all that by just going with the flow and allowing society to dictate your life for you. Only once we reconnect with these deeper layers of ourselves and once we nourish our body, mind and soul, we can thrive in life.

Throughout this whole week, you are your priority no. 1.

Through yoga, meditation, breathwork, nourishing meals, nature, massages, rest and good conversations, you will:

  • Find clarity on what you really want in this life and how to get there

  • Recognize and delete your own internal blocks and fears that stop you from reaching these goals

On this retreat, you will not ‘just’ eat healthy and practice yoga. This is also a safe space to reconnect with your body, to heal, reflect and initiate a transformation to live life according to your rules and desires, not society’s. This is a journey back home to yourself.

 
 
 

Our retreat space

You will be staying in The Shanti Space, a beautiful and peaceful old Portuguese quinta only 30 minutes north of Lisbon. The venue is set in a national park and surrounded with beautiful fruit trees, giant oak corks, grape vines, and a stream at the end of garden where we often encounter deer and wild boar. I have seen some myself! At night we hear the howl of the wolves from the Iberian Wolf Sanctuary next door. Within a 30-minute drive we reach the fierce waves of the Atlantic coast. The Shanti Space is a place to retreat, rest and restore well-being whilst bathed in abundant nature. The energy here is something special. It’s hard to explain, but you will feel the power of the land when you are here to support you on your journey.

You have 6 different room options to choose from. All rooms have comfortable beds, beautiful Portuguese style interiors, bedlinen and towels and are a lovely space for you to retreat yourself from the group, to write in your journal and to rest. The tipi tents are super cozy and comfortable, but for the slightly more adventurous soul. The tents have an outdoor and indoor bathroom available for use.

Groups will be maximum 15 participants, to ensure an intimate atmosphere and personal attention.

Bell tents: the tents have a gorgeous open air shower (say YES to showering under the stars!) and a clean compost toilet and sink outside, or you can use the shared bathrooms in the main house.

Program Only Option: for those who may want to join the program but find accommodation elsewhere or bring a campervan there is the Program Only option, which includes everything except for accommodation. Price: €850 (early bird €750).

Next level nourishing, healthy food

The food we eat can be a medicine to nourish, strengthen and heal imbalances in your body and your brain. Therefore our private chefs from Lunna Plants serve the most delicious, next level healthy, nourishing meals. Their way of cooking is based on Ayurvedic medicine, and they use so many beautiful herbs and spices to make every dish tasty for the tongue and healing for the body.

Our products are locally sourced, seasonal and organic. All meals are vegan, gluten free and refined sugar free. You’ll receive an amazing, satisfying brunch and dinner every day, and snacks in between. The basis of each meal is veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, beans, herbs, spices and whole grains. But don’t be fooled! You won’t go hungry here and this isn’t rabbit style food. Your stomach is going to love our food and you’ll feel satisfied and energized in a new way.

It’s a detox, but then a great one where you don’t have to starve yourself.

As part of this vision to let food be medicine and cleanse our bodies, we don’t serve coffee and alcohol on this retreat. But plenty delicious coffee replacements are available, such as chai, matcha, herbal teas and infusions.

A day in the life of… a retreat guest!

Our schedule is diverse, to make sure you feel nourished in every possible way. So, your day could look like this, but every day is different!

  • Wake up rested around 7.30AM with the sounds of nature & a cup of tea

  • Move your body with a sunrise meditation & yoga practice at 8.30AM

  • Nourish yourself for the day with a delicious brunch at 10.30AM

  • Transformative breathwork session around 12PM

  • Snacks at 3PM

  • 1:1 coaching session or massage at 4PM or time to relax

  • Sound healing at 5.30PM

  • Dinner at 7PM

  • In the evening, you can read a book, rest in your room or exchange life stories around the fire

Your facilitator

Myrthe van Gameren

Myrthe is an ex-corporate consultant, turned life coach and yoga teacher. She will guide you through the daily yoga, breathwork and meditation classes, will facilitate the workshops and be your energetic support throughout this retreat. Myrthe is Dutch from origin, but has lived in Singapore, Bali and now Portugal, loves to dance, be in nature but is still a city girl and enjoys cooking and a good book. Together with her team of assistants, healers, chefs and masseuses, she will offer you the best experience.

What else you need to know…

  • I speak both English and Dutch. All group activities will be facilitated in English. Individual coaching sessions can be in Dutch

  • This is a women-only retreat. No offensive to the gorgeous and amazing men out there! If you want to work with me, we can! Here is more info about my 1:1 programs.

  • Check-in time is 4PM on the Wednesday, check-out time is 11AM on the Sunday

  • You are supposed to arrange your own transport to and from the location. From Lisbon airport (or city) it is an easy 30-40 minutes drive with an Uber or taxi. There is also lots of parking space if you decide to come with your own car. If you wish, we can help you organize a special pickup. Just ask!

  • Terms and conditions around cancellations etc. you can find here.

  • If you have any dietary or allergy requests, we will do our very best to accommodate. Please inform us with your booking to confirm if your specific requests is possible for our chef to take into account

  • Keep in mind there are no coffee and alcohol served on the retreat and any consumption as well as smoking are not allowed. Pets are also not allowed.

  • If you choose to book a 1:1 coaching session, then this is an opportunity for you to dig in a little deeper in some of the things you would like to work on for yourself, related to lifestyle, wellbeing and mindset. After your booking you will receive a questionnaire with some questions around what your goals and intentions are for this retreat, in order to prepare better for our session and make the most out of it

  • You can expect to practice different styles of yoga, from stronger power vinyasa classes, slow flows, Hatha and more restorative practices like Yin. In addition, all practices will include some form of breathwork and/or meditation. Yoga mats and other props all come with the venue.

  • Linens & towels are provided in all rooms

  • May is usually a warm and beautiful month in Portugal. However, the mornings and evenings sometimes get a little chilly and one of our yoga spaces is outdoors, so make sure you also bring some warm clothes!

  • Our quinta comes with a couple of cute cats. We do our best at all times to keep the cats out of communal indoor spaces and rooms and we appreciate your help with this by keeping doors closed at all times
